Four positive spins to put on your allergy
Allergies are extremely common. Between 10 to 40% of the world’s population suffers from at least one type of allergy. Unfortunately, this means your chance of being allergic to something is quite high.
But while allergies can be troublesome and inconvenient, it’s always worth looking on the bright side. Putting a positive spin on your allergy will make living with it that much easier.
You know what you’re dealing with
If you’re aware of your allergy, take some comfort in the fact you now know exactly what you’re up against. You – like plenty of others – could have spent years suffering with no idea why. Imagine how frustrating it would be to experience symptoms for a long time but have no clue what you’re reacting to.
At least now you know what you’re allergic to and can take the necessary precautions to reduce your risk of reaction. You know what allergens to avoid and how to treat any flare-ups. Knowledge is power after all!
Food allergies can make healthy eating easier
This one’s a bit of a stretch, but hear us out. Say you’ve been meaning to eat healthier for a while. But you lack the drive to get going. If, all of a sudden, you find yourself allergic to one of your guilty pleasures, it looks like healthier eating got easier.
Similarly, you might want to try out being vegan or vegetarian, but aren’t ready to give up the bacon. By finding out you’re allergic to meat or dairy, things just got a whole lot easier!
More motivation to keep your home clean
Home-related allergies such as dust or mould can be annoying. But what better motivation to keep on top of your cleaning and home maintenance! Even better if you live with someone else. Now you can use your allergy as an excuse for them to take over the cleaning chores. Use that allergy to your full advantage!
Hypoallergenic dogs shed less
Finding out you’re allergic to dogs can be devastating, especially if you’ve always dreamed of getting a four-legged friend. But there are always hypoallergenic dogs. And these breeds are better for allergy sufferers because they shed less.
You know those friends who have dogs and always complain their house and clothing are covered in fur? You still get the perks of a furry companion but don’t need to worry about that!
We know that allergies aren’t great. The symptoms can be unpleasant and frustrating. And an allergy could make you miss out on some of the things you enjoy. But a positive attitude will make your experience a lot easier. No matter how far of a stretch, it’s worth trying to find some positives to your allergy.
